Rjdlandscapes,

Crazy, been hearing all today bout how Hertz have 'dumped' Tesla because reasons and they are selling 20,000

Except they are currently selling 27,721 vehicles.
-661 are Teslas (2%)
-5394 are Chevrolets
-5301 are Fords
-2890 are Nissans
-2231 are Toyotas
-Sales also include Mercedes, Porsche and many others

The teslas are high mileage vehicles they have rented to uber drivers, this is pretty standard behavior for rental companies..

@Rjdlandscapes Yep. Just saw a post saying they're selling off 20,000 Teslas. I wish people would read for comprehension rather than speed.

Also " EV" and "Tesla" are not interchangeable words, as some think.

Rjdlandscapes,

@anne_twain

all part of the general willfully misleading reporting on eVs and tesla.

@Rjdlandscapes Yeah, there's a tendency to highlight problems or see them as greater than they are and ignoring the pay-offs.

The least popular people in online groups I've joined are journos who ask things like "what are some of the problems you've had with public charging stations?" Nobody wants to talk to them 😂. (There are a few trusted ones.)

I've never heard a single person say "this EV is a terrible car. I cant wait to get rid of it".

Rjdlandscapes,

@anne_twain

I guess you've never met an mx-30 owner!

Most EV makers making serious evs they want people to buy and use are fine.

The charging experience in places is rough though, esp if you cant charge at home.

If you can charge at home its a breeze , most people would only need to plug in once a week or less...

@Rjdlandscapes You don't need to explain. My car is a 2016 Nissan Leaf. Yes, charging can be an issue, but we're trailblazing. You don't expect the path to be easy when you're the first.

And the pay-offs are huge.

Rjdlandscapes,

@anne_twain

honestly bug cudos to early leaf owners certainly were trailblaizing and taking the hard route!

Shdwshard,

@Rjdlandscapes @anne_twain I don’t have a home charger and that’s STILL my experience. There’s a coin parking lot near my house with a free 200V charging pole, so I can fully charge if I need, but lately I just find slow charging spots at malls and shops, leave the car there for a while and drive it home, gaining 3-5% net for the day.

On long drives, I’ll use the highway quick chargers.

Japan is really going all in on public chargers. Also, the subsidies are nuts. Public charging infrastructure is 100% paid for out of subsidies. Machinery, construction, and electrical lines. They even added an exception in law so you can pull a second independent power line to a property (usually they all have to go through one spot) if it’s for charging infrastructure to simplify construction.

Even private infrastructure, you get 100% construction and 50% machinery subsidies! Level 3 home chargers are ~¥100,000-200,000. Minus 50%. Installed cost. 🤯

@Shdwshard @Rjdlandscapes I've changed my thinking on charging. At first I ran it down to about 20% before charging but now I charge after every 1- 2 trips. That way, if I need to drive somewhere unexpectedly I've always got plenty of juice. It's harder to find a space of time when I can charge for 9 hours, but 2-3 hours is easy. This is charging at home of course.

My charging arrangement at home is an ordinary domestic 10 amp socket and a charging cable that came with the car.

I've got a second charging cable that lets me charge from Type 2/ Mennekes chargers but haven't had occasion to use it yet.

Rjdlandscapes,

@anne_twain @Shdwshard

yep I am only running an 8amp feed to my 3, its fine, I just plug in now and then

@Rjdlandscapes “not the full story”

Are they three years old? They are fully depreciated. Zero financial reason to keep them even if they are in good condition.

Business as normal.
