This is the BYD YangWang U9

Its fast ( 0-60 in 2.3s,192 mph etc)

Apparently, according to Aston Martin, drivers dont want electric cars. Says the company that sold 6,600 cars last year...

@forpeterssake

China are doing that already...

Went to a lot of trouble creating this power box thing but it doesn't fit in the glove box. Thought I left plenty of room for the plugs but clearly not enough. Going to give up on this idea and do something simpler. Just wish I had more energy and time lately.

drahardja, to Toyota
@drahardja@sfba.social avatar

Very interesting to hear what NA CEO Ted Ogawa has to say about investment in the US.

Essentially, Toyota is ignoring EPA guidelines about BEV mix and focusing entirely on customer demand, and they will not make BEVs in numbers higher than expected demand lest they waste their resources.

Toyota’s now-well-known reticence in jumping into the BEV bandwagon, preferring to sell instead, may prove to be the better bet. The EPA is likely to reduce their mandate for 50% BEV new car sales by 2030. If they do, then Toyota’s strategy would have been proven right.

Rjdlandscapes,

@drahardja they'd rather buy credits than make

What a disgusting company can't wait for them to fail

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@drahardja

They are constantly lobbying for dirtier vehicles and more pollution

They constantly lie about self charging hybrids

The demand for EVs is there, just not their garbage Evs

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@drahardja Toyotas prediction for glocal ev salse for them is 15% of their fleet in 2030

China is over 30% already Europe already ahead of that too.

They want to sell fossil cars nothing more, nothing less

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@drahardja

Thats garbage , BEV sales were up 58% last year in the USA compared to 2022

Interesting @sarahhbickerton anything 1000kg or lower won't pay Rucs

@Niall @sarahhbickerton

It does pose an interesting idea!

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@sarahhbickerton

1500kg I guess would exempt a lot of fossil cars when they end up on RUCs but encouraging light vehicles is a good thing

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@benny_bee @sarahhbickerton I doubt that will ever happen and not in New Zealand

Just a reminder he didn't learn this lesson after getting caught out over rebates on both of his teslas from a scheme he scrapped, or his crown car tesla incident

Or his 100m limo ride, or massive travel expenses, or renting his own fully owned office from himself

Or over Mauri language training etc

He's entitled, he's an ex ceo used to people saying yes and used to grifting every cent

Remember you'd have to make $82k to match this 'irrelevant' benefit he had to apply for

Oh, that's hilarious. This hydrogen fuel cell vehicle needed to be transported on a flatbed to show it off it at the NZ Golf Open in Queenstown because the entire South Island of New Zealand has no way to refuel it. You can't make this up. 😂
Just let it go. It's so Fetch.

I have always wondered if computers would still beat humanity at chess if they had to run on 20 Watts (that's what the brain consumes). It seems a fairer playing ground than sitting across a TPU array. How many Raspberry Pis does Stockfish need to beat Magnus Carlsen?

Rjdlandscapes,
@Rjdlandscapes@mastodon.nz avatar

@Armavica a modern phone is quite a powerful computer and uses about 5 watts, would smash most players I suspect

So @KiwiEV reviews the Jeep Avenger, its an OK small city hatchback

Its totally compensating for not being a jeep by having a lot of jeep 'dna' glued onto it, which is fine

But its worst aspect is its price and position in the market, at $67k its terrible value

Can ZB Talkback callers talk about cancer patients being forced to work for benefits and the rollback of anti smoking laws and our ferry contracts and the clean car scheme and mining on conservation land and not subsidizing new fossil fuels exploration and prescription charges. etc etc etc

?

I mean if thats all it takes for Luxon to back down?
