Finally caved and bought a new TV. Old was a 2013-era 720p 32” Sony. New one is “Smart” 43” 4K TCL. $500 from Costco

It will never be on the network. It’s a dumb panel for the Apple TV.

So far so good. ECE appears to work (power on/off, volume). Has a “basic” mode which disables GoogleTV. Can tell it to start on previous port. Headphone out for our Tivoli

And yes TCL had a security thing. But without wifi or Ethernet that’s not really an issue.

It's been true of ice cream for a while, and I've never had a problem with plant milks, but I'm pleased that vegan yoghurt is finally good enough! The Raglan plain Greek yoghurt is good, and The Collective's vanilla yoghurt is delicious.

But vegan cheese still sucks. 😀

@thomasbeagle yeah. Most vegan cheese is horrid esp toasted/melted.

But I go for vegan ice cream every time. Our local Gelato place (island gelato) does some amazing ones. And vegan trumpets!

@caseyliss maybe. iMessage doesn’t offer me anything much that signal doesn’t - except sms. Most of the differences are gimmicks (stickers, balloons on your birthday) which I can take or leave.

1 human on telegram. A couple of groups on WhatsApp. 2 groups on iMessage. Rest is signal.

More from lack of need to change. Or that one person who doesn’t want to move.

I tend to meet my (less technical) friends where they are vrs try to move them…

I have exactly zero green bubble friends. But I have lots on android.

@caseyliss @Quinnypig we have a subnet router in our aws VPCs so we can get to our RDS instances directly (dev mostly, prod is highly acl’ed)

Repeat for data lake etc. sooooo useful.

Alex and I met a long time ago. When the js community was still niche and fun. We've stayed loosely connected, and I watched as he has done his best to steer the community away from the ridiculous place we currently find ourselves. For Alex to be entirely fed up is not a small thing. He has spent more than a decade being unfathomably nice and patient about it. I was there.
