@asolitarybear Regarding FF3, it was the 1st game in the series to implement re-targeting physical attacks (spells didn't on Famicom, remakes change that), as well as the row system seen in FF4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10. Party order affects getting targeted in FF1.

AstralEsper's Game Mechanics Guide covers all of FF1's bugs on NES. AstralEsper's own Final Fantasy Restored patches were conservative in regards to unknown intent, such as Intelligence.
