"Lunar lander" is a genre of video games where you have to land a fragile module using controlled bursts of your thrusters.
What's weird about it is that it might be only genre of games based on a single specific thing -- the Apollo Lunar Lander programme.
I can't think of any other genre like that. "FPS games", "RTS games", etc don't have that direct historical link.
Maybe "bridge crew" games which are all Star Trek The Original Series derived.
