I feel like a lot of people dog on IBM a lot, which I guess is fair is some respects but also they funded Linux development back in the late 1990s and early 2000s when zero other large (S&P or Fortune 500) companies were investing in Linux. They did so with a $1 Billion USD endowment, roughly $1.85B in today's money if we adjust for inflation. Also, the Container revolution might not have happened if IBM hadn't developed LXC and contributed it upstream. 🤔
