I try now and this is and I would like to like it but somewhere I can't manage to understand and use it. I don't just want to write down my thoughts and , I also want to be able to check off a list… 😐

What is your experience with @logseq or do you use something else with for structured on the ?

Scrunch4173,

I love logseq. However, sync feature is a big miss. I have lost a lot of work due to sync issues.

My first hurdle before it clicked was to find back to all my thoughts and to-dos. Especially since so much is focused around the journal (daily note). I fixed this by adding a template block with all to-dos scheduled for today or before today. Then I have a plan tomorrow page with all to-dos without a due date (scheduled).

I also used tags around subjects, like Home or Work or Home Assistant etc. Or so simple as shopping, so all my to-dos with the tag shopping are shown when I am at the store. I also use alias alot, because I tend to forget exactly what I called each subject (ie smart home vs home Assistant).

I also use the.omniwore addon so i can get all my online research into logseq. Import with tags, so it is automatically added to my subject.

But again, i am in the lookout of a sync solution i trust.

🧵 …I learn @logseq and a nice example about is:

"Start small. Don't try to build a system overnight. Doing so will make both adopting the tool harder and take you down a rabbithole of customisations you don't need."

For most stuff, you just write your things into the journal.
You usually don’t create pages on their own and open them, like on other note taking software, you link stuff to them with hashtags/ double brackets/ references.
It’s basically like a dairy with your thoughts that get connected to similar thoughts from months ago.

For to-dos, you just type “TODO” , optionally with /A, B or C for priorities.
I like to make my own journal template where a query of my TODOs is listed.

In general, I’d recommend you to watch a few guides on YouTube and read the docs for further instructions.

I found Logseq pretty unintuitive in the beginning, because I only knew traditional note taking software, but once I understood the concept, it made a whole lot more sense than the other approaches. It’s actually very simple, just like opening a note block and writing down stuff every day.

Logseq has the most advanced task management compared to other Markdown apps:

@alxlg thanks but in my view, this is one part and notes is one to 🤔

Stitch0815,

I love logseq. It’s the first and so far only notes taking app that has really clicked with me. I tries obsidian before but I think I was just overwhelmed. I love logseq BECAUSE there is “only” one place to put stuff. Sure you can write in pages directly but i rarly do this. When I need notes a second time and search for tags I usually move the blocks to the specific page. Otherwise notes stay in the journal to die :D

However this is for desktop. My problem with mobile is I can’t get it to sync properly with nextcloud and getting my personal stuff off of public clouds was kind of my whole point in setting up nextcloud.

As for todo lists on desktop there are several plugins but tbh I just favorite the todo page and check it regularly. Works perfectly well but of course depending on your use case your mileage may vary.

Nextcloud mobile worked okay-ish for me, but it worked.
Another thing you could try is Syncthing.

I personally decided to pay for the sync, because I like Logseq a lot and wanted to support the devs. I also lost some lines and notes from time and time when using a local sync (Nextcloud), and that’s a thing that’s a deal-breaker for me, so I happily pay for that.

But I wish this sync-feature would be self-hostable soon…

Stitch0815,

I would also be happy to pay the fiver every month but like I mentioned. The whole point behind my server was to get away from public servers/clouds How did you get nextcloud to work? Maybe Ill have another look at syncthing :D I checked it once and didn’t get it to work so I just gave up :D

@kubikpixel @logseq I use it mainly as a todo list, works well. I created a page for “doing” “ongoing” etc, then a query page to put all the todos together. This way you get your journal with ongoing tasks already surfaced, and when you need to see something else there’s a page for it :) find it flexible and good.

@Blf_tpe thanks and I hope I find this way also :)
