I tend to stay with death, black, industrial types. Dragged into Sunlight, Carcass, Bongripper, Watain, Mercyful Fate, Sun O))), Birthday Massacre, Electric Wizard, Monolord, Eyehategod to name a few.
Took a friend to see Dragged into sunlight, he wasn't ready for that. Tripped him out. Then a year or so later took him to see Sun O))) and I don't think he trusts me with shows where he doesn't know the band now haha.
I was actually debating whether to post Orchard or Feral Bones so good call.
And Soma's one of my favorite albums ever. It's the benchmark for lo-fi metal for me.
I've listened to this album several times and it's easily far better than Rats Nest, but up there amongst their best albums to date. Standouts for my are Witchcraft, Gila and Dragon in sequence. Cavs is definitely channeling some sake power because his drums are bonkers.
Cavs is absolutely nuts on this. I’ve relistened several times and have tried to focus on the drums and I discover new bits each time where I just can’t wrap my brain around how he’s making it work and SOUND so good.
I’m not a fully paid up member of the metal scene, although I’m listening to more and more of it these days, but I’ll follow king gizzard wherever they go!
