@Dadlyambitions Oh, cool. Ulcerate is dropping an album, too.

Much needed counterbalance to all the negativity.

Nothing lifts one's mood as much as some guys screaming like a coffee grinder while hitting a drum so hard you're not sure how come its skin doesn't break, and "let ring" is treated as abhorrent heresy which no string will be permitted to experience.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog also who needs structure or melody, just git gud.

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions It's got gravitas.

That ought to be enough.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog both singles off this album, which is calling "cutting the throat of god" btw, are sheer masterworks of dissonance, spacing and sheer walls of sound.

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions Yeah, I'm more and more convinced this is just a kind of jazz.

Like, the drums are doing A, the strings are doing B and the vocals are doing C.

Wouldn't be the strangest act on North Sea Jazz, by a long shot.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog and it all just works together, but you aren't sure why or how, it won't be stare into death and be still, but that's a top 10 metal album ever.

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions "The Dawn is Hollow" is definitely no less than "To Flow Through Ashen Hearts"

And they're doing a whole album of this stuff.

Feeling the hype.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog an hour of unrelenting dissonant tech death.

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions I just laugh at the people who say nobody makes good music anymore.

They're not listening to the right stuff.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog tbf ulcerate is another level of metal, and like not a lot of people wanna sit and examine a whole album as one musical movement

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions I don't understand those people.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog same problem with btbam

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions Maybe the real problem is that people don't take the time for music anymore.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog if you start colors, you listen to all of colors, if you start stare into death, you listen to all of it, no skips, front to back

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions Like 90% of my music listening is whole albums, so this seems entirely natural behaviour to me.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog that's partially my doing

justafrog,
@justafrog@mstdn.social avatar

@Dadlyambitions I was always like this.

I just like being inside the band's artistic vision for a bit, like visiting someone's headspace to chill out there.

Switching track to track disrupts that vibe a lot.

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@justafrog gotta succumb to the vibe
