Custom Firmware in Development for Ultra-Cheap Data Frog Handheld

Great news for owners of the almost impossibly cheap Data Frog SF2000 handheld... Ignatz and his team of homebrew programmers have made significant progress on porting the custom firmware "AmphibiOS" (heh, I get it!) to the system.

The firmware is still in the early stages of development, with screen tearing in Sonic Advance 2 and rough sound effects in one of the Game Boy Adventure Island games. However, running Retroarch is the first step in greatly expanding the SF2000's versatility.

Previously, the SF2000 could run games for the NES, Super NES, Genesis, and three flavors of Game Boy, along with Master System titles as a hidden bonus. AmphibiOS could potentially add support for dozens more systems, including the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, and TurboGrafx-16, and home computers like the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, MSX, and Atari XL/XE.

It's an exciting development for cash-strapped gamers who don't have the funds for a more powerful emulation handheld. More news will be posted about this custom firmware on OG4OG as it's made available.
