Loved S1 last night but S2 was pretty up and down. And overall last night just doesn’t have the firepower of N1

Ranking the visuals from the couch is akin to ranking restaurant dishes from Instagram photos. Still, seemed like they used the Sphere better last night than N1. Given that these are planned shows, N1 wasn’t a learning experience. So assume N3 will be better than N2 and N4 > N3.
Not a bad show by any means, but both sets and the encore felt a step back from Friday.

Ranking visuals from the couch is so dumb, but here we are. I thought Pillow Jets had the coolest shit of the run. Taste was up there, too. But overall, Friday seemed to be a notch above with some stuff last night seeming repetitive and underwhelming -- at least in comparison to what we've seen the Sphere do.
@mrcompletely@chopaganda personally hard for me to not want the show that had YEM, WTU?, and Harry Hood, but ultimately I want the jams and N1 had 5 solid ones.
@Nolasox@mrcompletely@chopaganda Agree. that jam in My Friend My Friend was great. If they had really connected in weekapaug and skipped blaze on it would’ve been a home run set. (and if Trey didn’t miss that big run in Fluff)
There is something to the fact that a musical highlight (Tweezer) can be a visual lowlight.
@maxellxlii90@mrcompletely@chopaganda Yeah those Tweezer cars are still so perplexing to me. So clearly not the visuals you want when you know it’s a song that is certainly going to lead to a long, deep jam.

@maxellxlii90@chris@Nolasox@chopaganda after seeing the last two nights it's even more embarrassing on a professional level how primitive and amateurish the visuals on n1 were with 3 or 4 exceptions. I'm sure it still looked cool in person, but that's the venue, not the videos. I was shocked at the lack of transitions, timing, layers, generative effects, agent based modeling, realtime filters, interference patterns, all the elements of good modern vfx. All of which they've shown since then 🤷
@maxellxlii90@chris@Nolasox@chopaganda put it this way, I know at least two people personally whose light show work would be much cooler than anything from n1 if projected that big. But the last two nights have crushed, so what's up? The floor the last two shows was the ceiling on n1. It's just weird. Like they were dumping the B list material
@mrcompletely@chris@Nolasox@chopaganda I honestly think they wanted to see if the Phans could handle it, or if it would be a massive psychedelic freak out. Training wheels… it was still incredible in person. Just a fraction of what they were capable of.
