It goes to the entire mod team, that's always better than private messages to the mods.

On open subs there's a button for it, if the sub is private it should still work by using:

    https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/YourSubName

Tho I strongly suggest you ask in Discord, many mods are being "spammed" currently by users asking the same, I would consider it courtesy to ask in Discord first since it's available.

I don’t know the answer, but why don’t you just create the community yourself and get it started? You can always add the Reddit mods if they do want to run it on lemmy.
