For those getting fed up with all the Google SERP results coming from Reddit can I please remind you of the Google operators. Just add -reddit.com after your query and it will not return anything from Reddit.
Or install a browser extension like Ultimasaurus or uBlacklist.

@simoncox it always strikes me that reddit has a pretty solid information architecture compared to other social media. Info is organized into topics, where users frequently interlink and demonstrate a broad range of expertise, and context is included in the URL.
Reddit SEOd user generated content. Whether that's good or bad, different question. But its prevalence in searches has never seemed to demonstrate some kind of secret collusion to me.
Indeed it has - which is why Google have paid huge sums to get access to their API and the problem now is that there is too much Reddit rhetoric in the SERPs and as a user i might not actually want all that!
@simoncox almost like reddit was planning something like this when they monetized their API out of reach from app developers, but now IN reach of big data...
as he is having a moan on the Twaters so I thought I'd mention it here - he probably will never see it or it will be far too late and he will have moved onto other things, but at least i made the effort! 🤣
