Shout out to my science teacher neighbour who blocked me on WhatsApp 6 months ago unblocked me last night, rang me at 11:45pm, text me to say "The Aurora Borealis is outside right now and I don't want you to miss it", sent me a photo of said Aurora Borealis ABOVE MY HOUSE, then blocked me again.

(I didn't see them)

Too many folks believe social media's all about reach. They optimize for posts that can earn thousands or millions of engagements.

But there's another way to view these networks - as 1:1 connectors.

Like anyone, I think it's cool when one of my posts here "does well." But 99% of my activity is the opposite. I read & reply to people when I like their work or want to support/amplify them. I post things that are valuable for 100 people but not of much interest to millions. And it works great πŸ₯°

Images files were pronounced G if until the French makers of the squeezable Lemon Juice product named Jif took it to court. But it was thrown out and so the Jif product name was changed to Cif; and so people using the Graphic Interchange Format realised they could now call the file Jif instead of Gif, so they do.

And they are in fact wrong.

Do links still matter much? Is SEO still 50%+ link building (or things that indirectly lead to links)? Or has Google mostly evolved beyond that?

Yes they still matter but quality rather than quantity matters now unlike years ago. Seems to be more people than ever doing legit link building but I believe it’s more brand building now, even if they don’t realise - not that I ever did link building!

@pch Yep works beautifully! You have a better camera and better battery but that’s it. It is running the latest iOS and works with my watch perfectly. πŸ˜€ as yet absolutely no reason to upgrade! Just got myself a new 12 South Journal cover as my Book Book cover wore out and finally fell to bits!
