@syntaxseed I despise reward/loyalty/order ahead apps for this very reason. I don't mind an exchange of some user data for a discount, but too often it becomes more effort than it's worth. I'd rather miss out on the incentives than have a dozen different apps on my device and a frustrating experience.
@syntaxseed I actually like magic link auth for things like this as long as I don't have to re-authenticate frequently. I don't keep my password manager on my phone so this is much easier for me.
@syntaxseed craziness. It's a fast food app. Password would be more than sufficient. But... in the age of selling user data they gotta mine as much as possible I supppse.
@syntaxseed The McD app tries to "notice me arriving" via my phone's GPS, causing delay with them actually preparing my order. On arrival they have me park and wait. The drive-thru ends up being at least 10 minutes faster. I mean, who has that kind of time to waste?!
@syntaxseed I'm not the smartest, yet I built better software than that when I was 16. Maybe just bad incentives in workplaces. Probably many other factors, but I definitely don't think that it's because software is inherently hard.
