@vappster@alexhammy@metin@pluralistic Italian too here, and I did browse the web with AMosaic on my Amiga for sure around 1990. There were small local dialup providers (mine in Sicily was called "Video Online" IIRC), and many of us went through public university-managed networks. But yes, I can confirm the big monopolistic phone company entered the business circa 2000, and they tried to telemarket me too, saying they had just "invented" the internet😏
