How to see your iPads battery health

If you want to see the health of the battery in your iPhone it’s as easy as going to the settings. But Apple doesn’t offer the same handy tool on iPadOS for some reason.

There are ways though of seeing exactly how healthy (or unhealthy) your iPad battery is.

Just follow these steps to see detailed information about your battery.

  1. Download the Battery Stats Shortcut.
  2. Open Settings > Privacy and Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data.
  3. You’ll see a long list of files. Open the one looks like the image below with the most recent date.

  4. Tap the share icon in the top left and select Battery Stats.

  5. You will then be presented with detailed stats about your battery. https://i.imgur.com/bMwiag2.jpg

The image of my battery stats are from my one day old iPhone 15 Pro Max so it’s very unlikely you will see 100% for your battery.

When I tried this on an iPad and iPhone (it works on phones too) that wasn’t running iOS 17 it didn’t work. So make sure you’re on iOS or iPadOS 17.

How can I enable these analytic files? I can’t find one, but many other files.

47_alpha_tango,

My top files in the list were something to do with Amazon so I had to scroll down several entries to find the right one.

I just have awdd* files here, that’s all.

47_alpha_tango,

Make sure you’re on iOS 17.0.2 as mine weren’t showing up until I updated but my list looks like this. https://i.imgur.com/s9Tv7vV.jpg

If you have these choose the one with the most recent date.

Hmm. Can’t update past 17.0.1 here in Europe.

47_alpha_tango,

Strange. I’m on 17.0.2 in the UK.

Still 17.0.1 in Germany.

Make sure your analytics are on, it has to share to generate the file I believe. I think it runs overnight or something so I’m taking a look in the morning but that’s what I found so far

Edit: that was it! Payoff:

Your iPhone battery’s real stats: MaximumFCC (original maximum capacity): 3248 mAh

NominalChargeCapacity (current maximum capacity): 2388 mAh

CycleCount (number of complete charge cycles): 1095 cycles

Looking forward to an upgrade to the iPhone 16, this is my iPhone 11 from launch.

Clicked the link, got “not found”.

47_alpha_tango,

It’s not working for shortcuts I share too. Could be an iCloud issue. Try again later.

47_alpha_tango,

It appears to be working now.
