Ha, I just saw a travel article with the headline "Hotel breakfast hours are a joke"...

https://www.escape.com.au/travel-advice/hotel-breakfast-hours-are-a-joke/news-story/9b0c2c55a4f7d2fed230db843f169618

... and immediately thought "Yes! I hate it when hotel breakfast doesn't start until the insanely late hour of 8am. Clearly 6.30am is the correct start time."

Then I realised the article was complaining about how early breakfast finishes. :)

What do you think?

@timrichards I prefer brunch to breakfast when I'm on holidays so would rather go to a cafe than eat at the hotel

Having done breakfast shifts dish pigging in the distant past I'm not a fan of starting too early. 7am is surely early enough?

@HardBeingGreen yeah generally I'll go to breakfast about 7 am. Important to get there before all the families and other crowds arrive. :)

@timrichards Anything later than 7 is useless.

@sister_ratched yeah 8 o'clock breakfast starts at hotels are terrible, because everyone will be crowded outside the door waiting for it to open – and it won't be relaxing as a result.

@timrichards I’m with you! Early breakfast, please.

@timrichards There are 2 types of holiday people - the doers and the relaxers.

I am a holiday doer and want breakfast available from 7am at the latest because I have a packed holiday day ahead. The relaxers like to do nothing much during holidays and certainly don't want to be getting up at the same time they would be getting up for work.

My archetypes fail in this instance though because doers might like night clubbing, out late at concerts etc. They have only got to bed at 2am and certainly need a bit more sleep.

So hotels need to be providing breakfasts from 6:30am to 10am to cater for all. That is a bit tough if you are a small hotel.

@perkinsy I think this writer is out so late she wants breakfast at, like, 2pm. :) Aside from the "doer" thing (which describes me), even if I'm trying to relax I'll still wake up around 7am. That's the way my body clock works.

@timrichards If she just recognised her word for breakfast is 'lunch' then she would be happy!

@perkinsy I suspect she still wants to get up at 2 pm but have the buffet of eggs and sausages in Bain Maries. ;)

@timrichards Yes, and yes.

@timrichards from 6am until 11am would be good.
