Canada requires you to have a plan that makes you an asset to Canada (fair enough). Certain occupations in certain provinces are in need. Having a plan to start or invest in a business and hard proof that you have the capital to do so ($2M USD) is also a possibility. Having family in Canada and already having a written job offer or business plan helps. There is also the matter of the medical clearance and demonstration of proficiency in both English and French.
France, Costa Rica, New Zealand look mighty good. Uruguay if you are looking for no entry visa requirement, no retirement visa income requirements, duty-free on your car and the ability to buy real estate as a non-citizen. Apartment with ocean views in Punta?
“There are a lot of people with firearms that shouldn’t have one,” said Tom Roberts, an Indigenous elder in La Ronge. “In small northern communities, it’s scary for a lot of people. A lot of the elders don’t go for walks in the morning or the evening like we used to.”
Imagine living in one of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth and not being able to enjoy it because some prick with a gun might not like you. These elders, they’ve not stopped because of bears, not because of moose (which are 490kg of foul temper on bandy legs) but because of insecure humans.
I can understand the costs that are associated with it.
What I cannot understand is how poorly this was managed. I’ve implemented systems that have cost several million dollars. And I have had to be able tos how the paperwork for those costs and where they went.
Like , looking at what Arrive Can was intending to do. The scope of it’s ambition and how wide spreading it was meant to be. I can see the costs being somewhere about right.
But fuck sakes where’s the audit trail? I’d be fired for this lack of management in my profession
The Supreme Court of Canada began hearing arguments Tuesday on whether courts in Canada should be able to conduct secret off-the-books trials that are not listed on court dockets.
Obviously no. What kind of authoritarian bullshit is this?
“The point is simple. The CBC itself said that to call Hamas terrorists was to take sides. So if they’re not going to call Hamas a terrorist organization, are they not left taking a side still?”
This point is remarkable, a truly astounding display of applied logic, but it if we consider it in the effulgent glory of its full implications it does raise one important question for the honourable member: I know you are, but what am I?
One more reason I’m glad to be Canadian is that this news is going to make little to no difference in the political battles of today. Americas messed up supreme Court is a cautionary tale
If the government would match aid to Canadians that would be great. I’m glad we’re helping Ukraine, but it seems that our government only worries about foreign affairs and the citizens of other countries over Canadians who are drowning in rising costs
They weren’t being taught to lie, they were excercising the freedom to choose when and who to trust with their private health and identity information.
For many teams youth, this new policy forces a choice between the closet and abuse, or homelessness. The old policy at least allowed these people to have some of the dignity afforded the rest of us, to live their lives with some control and freedom.
Just awful, and doubtless a CPC government lead by Pierre will enable these policies through either direct support or by turning a blind eye.
