Some might consider this a superfluous purchase, considering (apart from when I worked in a bike shop) that, on average, I have to pull a crank every 15 years.
@migurski@LoneLocust I have just completed a basic professional bike mechanic course with excluded any training in square taper cranks, "cup & cone" BB's and quill stems. In the future if you take your old bike to the bike shop, make sure they have an old mechanic.
@geomannie A lot has changed in 40+ years since I was in a shop. For example, while I guess they existed, I never saw a mountain bike. They just weren’t a thing.
@migurski, a LOT has changed in the bike world since 1982 when I was working in a shop, but it used to be that a crank puller was a crank puller was a crank puller... as far as I recall. (Bottom brackets, different story.)
This is the plain one. If a bike shop doesn't have one of these, they’re not a bike shop. ;-)
