Adirondack, 7 months ago @JeniParsons 'Rutabaga' is the American word for swede, like in the refrain of the very strange Frank Zappa song "Call any Vegetable" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhDGiW-qZ2k Looking up medlars again and darn they really do not grow in USDA zone 5. Too cold! We managed to grow some hardy hazelnut trees that seem to be thriving. Not so much with the (supposedly hardy) chestnuts. Figs we'd have to grow in buckets & bring them in for winter. When we lived in Texas, we had sprawling fig trees. Miss 'em!
