how do you waterproof an xt60 connector without making it too much pain to take apart? I'm thinking 1.5-2 wraps of cut rubber innertube with tape and zip ties on each end, like a 2in bandage over the connector. #eBikes
@enobacon one school of thought is you don't waterproof them. The metal bullet contacts are surrounded by the plastic connector and I've heard they don't short even when submerged. And additional waterproofing can lead to moisture retention which can cause corrosion.
@jpanhans I've got the two tiny shrink wraps around the soldered point, but there's still a gap. See recent pic, there's an unglued overlap on the underside of the front part, that would hopefully allow it to drain (not planning to submerge it.)
I'm also worried about water running down the heatshrink where it has a small gap on top. I'll stick some sealant on there but probably want a rain hat of some sort, that could cover the top end of this connection too.
@Karstan it's not in an easy spot to wrap and I want it to be easy to reseal but also not wear out/unravel. Maybe not taping one side and just four zip ties, cut 2 and fold it back to disconnect...
