Quasi-related fun fact: I have never been able to find out what ( ) Alberta's first computer was. Apparently no one thought that was important enough to bother taking note of, not even our newspapers!

The librarians were able to uncover a budget line item one year, and a brochure from a couple of years (or more) later for professionals on using the computer to dictate patient notes, but that's it.

AFAIK it wasn't actually a secret. 😂

robyn,

@likelyjanlukas Huh! I'd have thought there'd have been SOME record - seems like a big change!!

Then again, as we all know, "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers" was a thing that was said, so maybe... nobody thought that this was at all important at the time?

likelyjanlukas,

@robyn

Quite possibly, although had media stories about the time they used a phone to relay a program to the University of Toronto, as well as their first in-house computer. 🤔
