OC Creating this in hopes of a Reddit exodus

I'm new to kbin and am trying to learn its features and Reddit-equivalences.

I noticed there was a lack of an Edmonton magazine here despite some YEG-adjacent posts to /m/random, and created this in hopes of getting some Edmontonians off of Reddit as well.

The /r/edmonton subreddit mods also refused to take park in the Reddit blackout, so I don't want to visit that sub or associate with them anymore (nor feed their high school feelings of false power)

I'm still learning how to use this, and it's made difficult by the current performance issues impacting kbin on this Reddit-hug-of-death during the June 12th-14th blackout.

I’m on board! I tried telling my friends/acquaintances about this but they were mostly confused. Most are still stuck in the FB/IG/Twitter/YouTube loop and find me strange for suggesting they’re not good for anyone.

The ones that use Reddit are happy to use Reddit’s official app as it’s the same flavour as the big three. I hope they’re the outliers or nothing will change.

Yeah it's interesting see this play-out in real time. I've found myself not visiting reddit anymore, but I doubt that will catch on with casual users who just lurk and want a quick-fix for content and are unconcerned with the politics.

Plus the concept of a multi-instance "fediverse" is nearly impossible to explain to a layperson so it might be an uphill battle!
