As far as I'm concerned, the jury is still out on TopSpace, but the more I use it, the more I think it makes sense... esthetically though it looks better with line-numbers off.

"TopSpace is an Emacs minor mode that lets you display a buffer's first line in the center of a window instead of just at the top. This is done by automatically drawing an upper margin/padding above line 1 as you recenter and scroll it down."

@oatmeal Does it work for you reliably?

I can't recall the details but something about a change of the font face in the first line broke this in the past, IIRC. Like large org headings or titles. The overscroll would be off when not all line heights are the same or so; sorry can't remember the details :)

@oatmeal Thanks for sharing this package! Though, I'm not sure if I would like to have the first line to ever scroll beyond ... the first line 🙂
