I thought it might be a little fun to discuss how we first got started with fanfiction. How were you guys introduced and what made you write your first story?...
Sometimes despite how much you enjoy a subject your brain for some reason cannot math out how to get those concepts out of your head and into the world at large....
Does anyone else have to resist the urge to turn every idea they have for a story/setting into a long-fic? Do you succeed & if you do, how?...
If I enjoy, I comment. Otherwise I quietly leave. However, I do comment for different reasons. A story that has me think tends to get longer comments out of me, because I'm busy working myself through the plot/my emotions/something....
Is anyone else using Camp NaNoWriMo to help write their fanfics?...
First, second, third person? Past or present? (Future even?) Limited or omniscient?...
After nearly two weeks of no internet at home, I shall have the comfort of mind to catch up on all the writing I've meant to do. There was too much research and fact checking I couldn't do without the internet. When I was away from home, I was not comfortable enough to do the writing. But this weekend! This weekend....
I'm attempting to polish up the end of the current arc of my longfic. I like having a buffer for my weekly upload schedule! There are two more chapters to write and then I'm on to planning the next arc....
I was pondering this earlier in the week. People have summaries they like and ones they will scroll past without considering the story at all....
AO3 is back up (yay!) and there are other sites out there hosting great fanfic and comics. What's on your list for this weekend?...
I tend to stick to canonical backgrounds or later divergences with most of my fanfic reading/writing, but a good AU can drag me in. Which AUs do you almost always click on when you see it in your fandom(s)? Or what sort of AUs do you always want to write?
Do you like to read/write long or short stories?...
Whether they became part of the finished product or WIP....
From word processors to notebooks and pens, what all do you use to write on/with for your stories?
Tell everyone about the most recent fanfic you've read!
Despite the latest issues of life, a oneshot I started working on last week is nearly at 5k words. I just. I can't even. My brain usually struggles just to do 1k words in that frame. How....
Finished that shipping week event with 2 late pieces but getting 5/7 prompts (with 2 of them being written onehots) is honestly way more than I expected of myself. Especially since my usual pace of finishing a 1k word oneshot is 3 months. This likely means said texts are a big mess but maybe people will be distracted enough by...
If anyone has doubts that their idea is too niché to be read, my Squirrel Stapler/Slay the Princess oneshot has gotten 40 hits since I uploaded it some 20ish hours ago....
In some bizarre brain melt while in one hyperfocused fandom I finally strayed into a couple of WIPs that have been ignored for a time. Here's to hoping maybe I can have something to show for the Finish What You Started Challenge?...
I’m going on a road trip, and I’m interested in fic recommendations. I had a fic in mind to read during the trip, but as I’ve been reading it, it’s become a bit darker than I thought it would be. I may still read it some; it is well-written, but I want to have some backups in case it gets too much and I want to distract...
Learning to draw new characters in both their original style and trying to decide how to translate them into whatever the heck mine is....
I actually DID pick up a fic from over a year ago and restart it. I'm so proud. I might even finish it this time. It's a Pokemon fic because... well that's just been my jam for a while now....
