How about the current situation? These numbers are soon a year old!

Flax_vert,

Cute

Apollo_Katelo,

Great scot! 1.21 Gigawatts of active users!

Ew0,

It’s the gigareddits to gigalemmies reddit disarmament program!

SocialMediaRefugee,

And a hearty F.U. to reddit

MrMac,

Good news

Mdotaut801,

Everyone

FlappyBubble,

Great growth so far. How does this compare to Reddit?

doofusmagoo,

In 2020 their year-over-year growth was around 50%, or roughly 4% per month. (source)

Homeryo,

Helping out the numbers :)

Chessmasterrex,

If RiF ports their app to Lemmy, have it as nearly functionally as it was on Reddit as possible while accommodating the ways lemmy is different, I think it would be a winner.

NanoooK,

I’d love for RiF to be ported to Lemmy. I’m using Sync now but I don’t feel it’s as good as RiF was to me.

Boost is coming. Did you try Liftoff or Connect? They can be good Rif alternatives

NanoooK,

I’m testing Sync and Connect. I’ve just installed Liftoff, will see if I like it but it seems promising. I’ll try Boost once available as I’ve heard good things about its Reddit version.

MapleSyrup,

Are there any plans of doing that, though? I’m a lifelong RIF user and would love for it to work on here 🥺

LastSprinkles,

Somebody should make an app that uses the anonymous Reddit JSON API to copy the popular Reddit posts and post them over here.

glockenspiel,

There are already some bots that essentially do that (perhaps not with that particular approach). Unfortunately, I think it has the opposite intended effect: organic growth doesn’t seem to take all that well.

Boinketh,

There’s an instance that does that. I don’t remember what it was called, but I ended up blocking the bot because it provided no real value.

microoptics,

I bit the bullet after I read there the Sync app was released. Now I’m lurking until I find the communities I love best… and it feels like they’re already starting to spring up. If I had the time to, I’d make and mod them myself.

Sine_Fine_Belli,

Very nice, now lets see the data about how many new communities are being created on lemmy

Zengen,

Honestly thats all Lemmy needs. Just more content body. This software is already a really amazing drop in replacement for reddit. To be honest its easier to navigate the federation aspect with Lemmy than it is for other federated services like mastodon in my opinion.

TheFrirish,

I mean you’re right but you’re preaching to the choir here. I’m trying to convince people that wanna use reddit to come here instead. But even that is hard.

Neve8028,

Yeah I do miss the activity on my frontpage on reddit. I find myself browsing all most of the time here when I don’t remember the last time I looked at /r/all on reddit. Sync and soon Boost coming out is going to be great in potentially bringing more people over.

wee_butterfly,

Want to see more people commenting on threads that have nothing to do with how well Lemmy is doing.

spader312,

Haha same less about reddit, more what we actually used to do on Reddit

Could you license this image under CCBY so that it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons? I’d add it to here. Let me know if that’s okay or if CCBY is mentioned somewhere.

Neve8028,

The image is just a screenshot from this site: lemmy.fediverse.observer/dailystats&days=90

I don’t know anything about licensing for use on wikipedia but maybe you’d want to reach out to the site’s devs?

Paulius, (edited )

Well, this is a screenshot that I’ve edited slightly. I’m unsure whether I can claim copyright on this image. However, if the Fediverse Observer doesn’t object, I would be glad to release it into the public domain (CC0).

Bosa,

Ya I’m surprised it moved that fast but that’s awesome, be sweet if it keeps up the momentum and gets as big as Reddit.
