thomholwerda,

I know I could technically just install KDE Plasma on my Fedora GNOME install and use KDE from then on, but is there a way to also properly remove all of GNOME and truly switch to KDE, without having to reinstall because I'm lazy?

@thomholwerda I know on Debian like distros there are virtual meta packages that represent each desktop, surely there's also on rpm ones?

@mmu_man @thomholwerda @thelinuxEXP dnf groupremove “GNOME Desktop Environment”

thomholwerda,

@mmu_man @thelinuxEXP Yeah that definitely exists in Fedora of course - I'm just wondering if there's any residuals or issues with that approach! 😀

@thomholwerda @mmu_man @thelinuxEXP you could give this a try: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/is-it-possible-to-switch-completely-to-to-kde-from-gnome/66747/5

another way: dnf swap @gnome @kde
but afterwards you might have to install a login manager like sddm with "sudo dnf install sddm and sudo systemctl enable sddm"

thomholwerda,

@mmu_man @vanessacardui It worked.

Just need to get rid of gdm and switch to sddm!
