UndercoverUlrikHD,

Habit is certainly an important factor for being consistent with your training, but if you don’t get any joy from it, then I’m not sure you’re setting yourself up for long term success. Is there any part of your exercise program that you feel brings you joy?

The best programs are the ones you can consistently show up to do. If God created the perfect exercise program, but you hate it and skip every other session, you’d be better off with a “worse” program that you would consistently show up to do.

If you’re struggling with using a vetted exercise program, don’t hesitate to try a different one, or even create your own if need be. And remember that no exercise is mandatory, there are always valid replacements. And likewise, no exercise is banned from ever being included in a program.

Could you elaborate on your second question? In general, you build strength in movements, while hypertrophy is all about muscle activation.
