Now I switched completely from f-droid to f-droid basic app.

Main reason is the better version of gadgets bridge. With this version it is allowed to run in background and so I can use my mi band again for notifications and alarms.

Another: All other apps can be maintained by the basic version too. So why should I have installed two f-droid store apps?

@di0v0n I think your main reason shouldn't have anything to do with what F-Droid client you use...

@jr
I think it is because of the change in the permission model of android, the newer app has the right to run in background.

@di0v0n yeah but what version of Gadgetbridge you have installed should not depend on the F-Droid client you are using...

@jr
The reason is that on f-droid basic it is build with android version 13 and in f-droid it is build with < 13 to be compatible with old devices, as I understood.

And on Android 13 and above you need this version that the app is allowed to run in background.

@di0v0n there shouldn't be a difference between the APK you download with F-Droid or with F-Droid basic. So interesting that it does actually seem to make a difference. Are you sure that this is actually the reason why Gadget Bridge works again?
