What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game?

Some games have decent recaps or disconnected stories which mean you can start from the latest release and still have the full experience....

Anyone else annoyed the LittleBigPlanet 3 servers shut down?

We won’t be able to play each other’s levels anymore. This is disappointing to see, and we didn’t get an advance warning either to try and get some last moments in.

Short games with lots of replay value?
