Fascinating world of ancient : the magnificent Trivulzio cage cup, bearing a toast that reads: BIBE VIVAS MVLTIS ANNIS - Drink! May you live for many years!
Dating 4th c. AD.
We don't know how cage cups (so-called Diatreta) were produced.
There are several theories. The most common one argues they have been cut from a thick-walled blown blank. But it was also argued that they have been cut from a pressed double-shelled blank.
