And this is why Hamas attacked when they did. This decision was in motion before october 7th, and will basically mean that the Arab world has formally abandoned Palestinians.
The original agreement called for the recognition of Palestine by Isreal, as well as the return of land. Can’t see that happening anymore, but we shall see. Blinken is in the area now.
Blinken has described Israel’s offer of a 40 day pause on the genocide as “very generous” so I’m not exactly holding my breath on him being intellectually equipped to address this in a way that results in anything good for the future of Palestinians, but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.
Intellectually equipped…that’s pretty funny. Well, he was equipped enough to negotiate the five state treaty with Iran before Trump tore it up. I guess I have a little more confidence in him than someone on a chat board.
