emattiza, 4 months ago @beausimensen preCheck is helpful for the pure environment nix runs checkPhase in (so doesnt have getent and some other standard linux cli tools), passthru is just for nixpkgs maintenance. here's the derivation in nixos/nixpkgs https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/nixos-23.11/pkgs/tools/misc/otel-cli/default.nix#L27
