I am curious about strandberg guitars. Has anyone tried one? I am concerned about why the maker chooses a plastic nut at the price point. Why not graph tusq? Maybe I’m overthinking that.

@ambergrey I loved everything about my Strandberg. That being said, I could never get entirely comfortable with the EndurNeck. That is definitely the make or break part of the guitar.

@woolie you’re the first person that’s told me they struggled with it, thank you for sending over some feedback! It helps!! :blobcatcoffee:

@ambergrey I own two (Progressive 7 and Classic, both from the NX line). You may have missed the fact that they have a zero fret, which makes the nut fairly irrelevant.

@afranke I’m not familiar with a zero fret. I’ll look up how that changes the game, thank you for the feedback!! :blobcatcoffee:

@ambergrey they have their own documentation about it at https://support.strandbergguitars.com/article/14-zero-frets

@afranke perfect!! Thanks! :blobcatcoffee:

@ambergrey I feel like maybe headless guitars don’t suffer as much from nut binding as traditional guitars.

I played one once for a few minutes when I was physically at Sweetwater. It was super duper comfortable, but the styling just isn’t for me. And I’m vain, lol

@RyanHyde oooo interesting point. Hmm. Now that I have Nimona, I feel safe to try out a headless lmao!!! Bc I have the queen of aesthetic satin burgundy mist and white perfection next to me at all times!! :blobcatcoffee:

@ambergrey @RyanHyde I bought an Ibanez QX52 a couple of years ago and love it. With the headless design, the alternate strap connector on the bottom of the body, the light weight and slanted frets (not multi scale) it is so comfortable to hold and play.

@MatthewKay @ambergrey @RyanHyde my bass player picked up the bass version of the QX52 and looooooves it for all the reasons previously stated

@ambergrey What does Nimona look like?

@ambergrey Looks lovely. Like the colour on the fretboard a lot.

Thanks for sharing 😀

@ambergrey I never tried one, not for me yet, but everyone I know who did swears by it. I know of a person who replaced all of their guitars by Strandbergs.

Apparently the ergonomics of the body and, mainly, the neck is that sells it.

@lasombra_br thanks for your feedback!!! I really appreciate it. I’ve been finding so much joy in the quicker melodic progressions and finding myself wanting the seated position that the strandberg modern style offers, with a more classical guitar type thing going on. I may give one a try….but have Sweetwater put in a graph tusq. :blobcatcoffee:

@ambergrey I didn’t understand the body ergonomics until I watched this “interview”.

Does that not make that much of a difference?
