Why does someone else refusing to use animals cause you so much personal distress?

Perhaps you are experiencing inner conflict. On the one hand you probably love animals and believe that you’re a good person, but on the other hand, you might be involved in decisions and practices that violate your own personal standards about not harming others.

What is this telling you about yourself and your place in the world?

@animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians Personally I don't give a rat's ass what others choose to do with their lives. But it becomes an irritation when they won't allow me to do whatever I wish with mine.

As long as neither of us acts sanctimonious or judgemental about the other not following their belief-system, we both should be OK.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians Human beings see oppression vividly when they are the victims. Otherwise they victimise blindly & without a thought!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@theunapologeticvegan @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians That I can agree with. I have seen this tendency of ignoring oppression in contexts that don't align with personal priority.

I am also conscious that I am guilty of "ignoring oppression", or simply "shaking my head and moving on", in contexts that aren't top priority for me.

We can't all fight all battles.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians is practising ahimsa not something you believe in? How can one knowingly fund the most abusive industries on the planet & completely disregard the lives of innocent & vulnerable animals! By being a non vegan, you are stating you are pro animal cruelty!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@theunapologeticvegan @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians I prefer to avoid getting into debates/arguments when there's no room for another perspective.

Life is rarely ever absolute. There's always nuance. Painting the world as white and black is nothing but naive.

You are welcome to retain your set views. And I'd thank you to leave me to mine.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians you avoid justifying animal rape, abuse, torture & murder coz there’s no argument against veganism, just excuses!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@theunapologeticvegan @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians I find myself wondering what your objective here is.

Is it to convince more and more people to switch to veganism? Or is it to showcase moral superiority?

If it's the former, equating milk-drinkers to those who deliberately treat animals inhumanely isn't going to help.

If it's the latter, I will leave you to it.

animalsonlywantkindness,
@animalsonlywantkindness@mastodon.social avatar

@kiranjholla @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians It's to stop the animal holocaust. Nothing else.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians activists can only make you aware about the atrocities happening to the innocent beings around the world with your money, what you do with the information depends on your character!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@theunapologeticvegan @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians

Activists can do a lot more, if they really care about making a difference.

Anticipate and address potential concerns of non-vegans. What's stopping them? Nutritional concerns? Cost pressures? Medical recommendations? Do you have suggestions to overcome these practical issues?

If all you do is accuse people of apathy and call them cowards, best of luck but I don't believe any real change can come out of such activism.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians non vegans have no right to tell activists what they should or shouldn’t do! If you know an effective way of doing advocacy, why don’t you do & apply that for yourself?

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians Don’t underestimate the power of a few people to change the world!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@theunapologeticvegan @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians I am not.

But those who change the world are biased towards action, identifying problems/obstacles, and solving them.

Rarely is accusing other people going to be a recipe for winning them over to your cause.

But in any case, if that's the path you choose to tread, so be it.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians genuine people who have compassion in their hearts change as soon as they are presented with the harsh reality! Rest will keep giving excuses to justify their violent lifestyle choices!

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar
theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians the ONLY problem we are facing is CLIMATE CHANGE by needlessly murdering trillions of innocent animals every year & if you think there’s anything bigger than this, you are delusional!

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians I speak for the victims not for the oppressors! I will continue to do that for life!

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians vegan activists are already fighting a winning battle coz no injustice lasts forever!

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians Aren’t you incapable of doing the research yourself when there are abundance of resources available at your fingertips? Your little inconvenience of learning facts can spare the lives of countless animals!
Truth is always hard to hear, isn’t? If the accusations make you feel not so good about yourself, then CHANGE!

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians the world isn’t governed by what you “believe”.

theunapologeticvegan,

@kiranjholla @animalsonlywantkindness @mastodonindians Rather than worrying about nutrition filtration through an animal’s body, you should worry & work on your apathy.
Most people with loud mouths are pretty coward when it comes to witnessing the reality animals are subjected to! If you aren’t one of them, I dare you to watch DOMINION & MAA KA DOODH on YouTube & then will talk about other things!

animalsonlywantkindness,
@animalsonlywantkindness@mastodon.social avatar

@kiranjholla @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians Deliberately inflicted animal cruelty is fairly absolute for the victims. It's easy to leave animal-derived dairy, eggs and flesh now. It's important for the children of today who will have no chance of having a habitable planet. There are about a billion people who are starving due to animal agriculture. I doubt they would appreciate "the nuance" either 🤷🏽‍♀️

kiranjholla,
@kiranjholla@mastodon.social avatar

@animalsonlywantkindness @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians Nuance is usually personal.

Activists would probably have more success by convincing the medical fraternity to advertise that veganism has no ill-effects.

On dietary choices, especially with important protein sources such as diary, there'd be no prizes for guessing whom I am going to listen to: an activist on the internet, or the local medical fraternity.

Trying to guilt me into stopping milk intake isn't going to work.

animalsonlywantkindness,
@animalsonlywantkindness@mastodon.social avatar

@kiranjholla @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians The human medics who have little if any training in nutrition? Those medics ? Vets are equally untrained in nutrition of any sort. The research is there supporting a balanced plantbased diet. Have you watched Forks Over Knives? Plenty of expert testimony and qualified experts speaking in that film https://youtu.be/EjTWFoqLy34

animalsonlywantkindness,
@animalsonlywantkindness@mastodon.social avatar

@kiranjholla @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians If you can't switch to plantmilk after watching Maa Ka Doodh free on YouTube, I'll eat my hat https://youtu.be/q5Y5sMz3RHU (this link is for the English version, Hindi version also available)

@animalsonlywantkindness @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians

I am a layperson. When I need medical attention, I go to the doc. I don't treat myself based on what I saw on the Internet. Those who got me out of the woods healthwise, more number of times than I care to admit, have my trust.

I am consulting them before making dietary changes that could have impact. And they don't sound convinced about the safety of veganism.

Seriously, if you want to make a dent, get the local docs on board.

animalsonlywantkindness,
@animalsonlywantkindness@mastodon.social avatar

@kiranjholla @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians Veganism is not a diet. It's a philosophy that rejects the commodity status of nonhumans. A balanced plantbased diet is perfectly sound. You can get support and information from qualified professionals at challenge22.com

@animalsonlywantkindness @theunapologeticvegan @mastodonindians

Quick question: have been searching for milk alternatives to try out, but the costs I have seen add up to be exorbitant.

Nandini milk costs ₹43 per litre. Soy milk costs ~₹115 per litre. Almond milk is almost double that.

Am I missing some real alternatives for sourcing milk alternates? Or, do I really have to more than double my monthly milk-budget to try these out?
