Quoting a Khasi doctor I know: "These Bengalis come to Shillong and act as if they're some foreigners from another country. They come here to feel better about themselves & talk to the people as if they've reached some tribal land where everyone is still living in hut".
#Mizoram too will soon be infested with these - those 'wandering soul' sic types. These idiots are lucky they didn't encounter people of the KNA who operate in Chin state, Burma. Those are people you cannot reason with - it's a bullet straight in the head.
#Ebooks are available from the Blaft website, from Smashwords, or from the muchtoolarge retailers. How India’s palm oil push is changing land relations in the North East
In the first of a two-part series on India’s plans to increase palm oil production, CarbonCopy explores how an unexpected snag will change land relations in North Eastern states like Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. M Rajshekar writes.
My friend back home making good use of the Bird's Eye Chilli plucked from her #garden. Jokingly captions it as, "Our #Christmas#tree - beautiful, tasty, and hot!".
Eight Takeaways as Mizoram Votes in Zoram People's Movement
What has made the ZPM’s victory sweeter is also the party’s candidate Lalthansanga defeating chief minister and MNF supremo Zoramthanga by 2,101 votes in the Aizawl East-1 seat.
The Myth of BJP's Hat-Trick and What the Statistics Really Say
This is how psychological games are played and won. Inflate a small balloon of truth so big that every contradictory truth is hidden behind it. Yogendra Yadav writes.
I have no stake in the #Mizoram elections but just wanted to point out that a super-popular singer since the 90s, a former RJ, and a former footballer of the Indian national team and ISL were fielded by the ZPM party. Of these, the RJ and footballer won. Mizos are not known for idolizing stars nor voting the likes of movie stars, influencers, or celebrities like in most of mainland Indian states. So, I personally see this is as a significant change in the thinking of most Mizo people.
Also, while the headline says, "..wrests power from BJP ally", can predict that they will work with the ruling BJP in the center as the ZPM party have historically opposed the INC (in Mizoram).
Just felt like sharing some political stuff about Mizoram for @mastodonindians
/I have no stake in the Mizoram elections = have lived outside Mizoram since 1983, so I don't gain nor lose anything regardless of who is in power.
#Christmas It's the kids who enjoy events like these the most. Credit to the organizers and volunteers who painstakingly take the effort to make these festivals memorable for many.
While the world’s eye has shifted from #Ukraine to #Israel and #Palestine, a gentle reminder that the civil war in #Myanmar (or #Burma) continues to simmer. This video (from 2 days ago) shows members of the Burmese army fleeing to my state in #India, #Mizoram after being chased by members of the PDF. That river is the one I posted some months ago. Locals say that #China has changed its strategy from supporting the ruling Junta to the People’s Defense Armed Forces (PDF). #NoAgendaPost but informative, so sharing - with @mastodonindians too. If true, China’s strategy to support the PDF instead of the ruling Junta could mean a lot for #India - strategically and economically.
So the Red Bull team is in #Mizoram. For what purpose, I don’t know. Here’s one of the many videos floating around. Guy on the #cycle is some former world no 1.
Assembly Elections: Chhattisgarh and Mizoram Record Over 70% Turnout
All of Mizoram's constituencies voted today but over three quarters of Chhattisgarh's constituencies will vote in a second phase on November 17. Votes for both states will be counted on December 3.
Lengpui #airport in #Mizoram is quite an #engineering marvel. A lot of hills were ‘grinded’ down so a plane could land. Around the time it was being built, an MLA of the opposition MNF party famously said, “Not even a crow will land on that place. It’s for Lalthanhawla (the CM at the time) and his cronies’ way of making money.” Credit to the ruling INC government of the time who pushed the central government that Mizoram needs this airport
The state government currently controls its operation but I hear that the IAF is salivating to take over it and run it on the lines of the one in #Pune.
Five Reasons Why Mizoram CM Zoramthanga Said He Will Shun Modi During Campaign
The Wire explains the compulsions that forced the Mizo National Front chief to make such a categorical statement against the prime minister despite his party being part of the NDA.
This is an old twitter thread from 3 years ago which we had fun with. We are reposting it here because old twitter threads are endangered by link rot, and because we seem to have a newish audience here.
It's a comparative mythology thread that focuses on a legendary race of ancient Indian people who....
