Who are the current admins of kbin.social? /m/fediverse needs moderators

There's currently a spam "buy adderall" post on /m/fediverse that's been up for 16 hours now. The magazine has no moderators other than Ernest.

I also remember hearing at some point that kbin.social was being run by some other admins so that Ernest could focus on code, but I don't know who they are. Does anyone else know who we should be pinging for issues like this?

One additional question, is there an issue tracker for problems/requests that are specific to kbin.social, rather than the kbin codebase? It doesn't make sense to fill up the issue tracker on codeberg with "this magazine needs moderators" requests and the like, but we do need somewhere to keep track.

Hey, on Monday, the system for transferring magazines and submissions to moderators will be ready. I am currently working on it, which is why I need a moment of focus and isolation ;)

Great to hear, thank you. Are there any other server admins that we should contact about things like this in the future, or are you still the only one?

At the moment, I am the only admin on kbin.social - mainly because /kbin doesn't have a tested global administration by multiple admins/mods ;) It's something I'm currently working on. Sometimes, there are so many notifications and messages that responding would physically take up entire days. I can't reply to everything immediately, but I try to do it systematically. However, the best way to get in touch is through Matrix spaces. I feel that every problem will be properly addressed there, which is why I can allow myself to work calmly besides managing all of this ;) Another more reliable method is a contact form.

holdenTX,

@ernest @cacheson can I be an admin 🥺

@ernest @cacheson you are SO appreciated! I am glad you are hanging in there with the massive boom has had.

DarkThoughts,

Is there a better way of reporting offensive magazines & users instead of PMing you?

I feel like a lot of communities could use a few more moderators here and there. Thankfully the spam hasn't been too bad to be noticeable now, but I feel like there'll be an inflection point where the userbase will far outnumber the moderators on certain magazines.

In the meantime, because the fediverse wasn't built in a day, block the account, flag the post (more -> report), and move on.

@ernest Would you be able to give some guidance as to who to ping for these issues?

bedbeard,

I was thinking this also when I saw some thai football (or something) related posts in /m/cats. The sole moderator is @Jay, who has never posted anything. At all. And they are also the sole moderator of /m/iphone and /m/chicagobears.

I know there was talk of reclaiming a magazine abandoned by the mod like this but I think it really needs to be addressed soon, as currently you can spam anywhere quite successfully (like the drug post in /m/fediverse) and even with downvotes the post will be on the front page for quite some time.

@bedbeard my feeling is that when this thing got off the ground, some people had the idea to snag a few prime communities. Maybe with good intentions that they never followed through on.

It would be interesting if anyone was able to programatically look through communities to see what is going on in terms of a) user reports, b) mod actions, c) mod participation in community, d) if the mod accounts are active at all (even outside the community). I think all that information is public. (Maybe not the reports themselves?)
