Just looking for more information on this message. Isn’t the whole point of federation that, for example, we here on kbin can see the same stuff on lemmy.world?
You get a similar message on Mastodon when looking a profiles. Federation doesn't really backdate. So your magazine will only have articles from the moment your instant learned about it forward.
Well, messages have to be sent to each server which then propagates to the server. Think of it as E-Mail where if it hasn't hit the server, it doesn't exist.
This message shows anytime the magazine or user is on another instance. This is mostly because we do not want to rely on scraping each other sites. Each interaction with someone is an 'activity', these activities are sent out to all related people.
I have seen this message when the federation sync was complete (not missing any posts or comments). So.. Not sure what determines when it shows and when it doesn't
