Old metabolism and digestive problems can stop you (from eating a pizza anytime you want). Those of you who can still eat pizza, shovel as much of it as you can down your pizza hole while you still have the ability to eat it. One day you'll find you'll wish you hadn't had any the night before.
Pepperoni pizza is my favorite food. I haven't been able to eat any of it for 30 years. If I were on death row, it would be my choice for my last meal.
The really bad part for me is, I LOOOVVEEE the taste of a pepperoni pizza. That first bite -- OH MAN, it's almost worth going through the ensuing GI agony. Almost. I finally realized it's something to do with the red sauce (I think) that bothers my gut so much.
So I bought a "Margherita" frozen pizza and found it wasn't quite so harsh on my stomach, but still had some feeling of bloating and burning in my gut. My GI tract just doesn't deal well with pizza anymore.
It really can make it worse when you're already feeling stressed. Also - I know that eating chocolate after eating pizza is a recipe for gastric disaster (heartburn like crazy). Apparently chocolate relaxes those little muscles in the throat that usually keep stomach acid down where it belongs. When I see those commercials for pizza that comes with chocolate chip cookies for dessert - i already feel the acid just from watching it.
Yeah and it gets more MEH as you go along. Although I really enjoyed my 50s, for some reason. I felt good, life was good, things were looking good - I dunno, it just was a good decade. Now I'm in my 60s and back to Meh again.
Well, could be. Although I wasn't really all that happy in my 20s, Glad that part of life is over with. Some things get easier though with age - I'm a lot less fearful, and I don't fear death at all anymore. I've stopped stressing over a lot of stuff. But after 50, things in your body stop working as they used to which is kinda not much fun.
I think it's sort of like, you ease into a nice warm comfortableness with life after 50. At least I did. I stopped giving a f#ck about other people's opinions and really started to enjoy just being myself. I'm in my early 60s, I'm lucky to still look young but my body doesn't work the way it used to. One day its shoulder pain, the next my hand is sore for some reason. But, my attitude about is also a lot less panicky and worried.....so, that's good I guess?
Aging isn't for sissies. And yet, here I am. (!). So, getting older, things don't necessarily get better in every area, but yeah, in terms of overall mood and general happiness, things have gotten really much better.
I'm glad to do it, and I agree, you never hear about the positive sides of aging. And there's a lot that's scary about it, but it comes with a whole host of good emotions too. And I think I'm much happier now than I ever was in my too-frantic and too-uptight youth.
