NewEnglandRedshirt, 👍🏻 ok there bud.
AveragePotato,
HR_Pufnstuf, Found the Canadian. :)
spez,
Laser_Frog, First link I get an add and immidiately close. Second link I get an message that the video has failed.
There is a message in this somewhere about the state of the Internet that I can’t quite articulate.
Skwisgaar, One of the few times I can actually sense sarcasm/passive aggression via ‘text’
scottywh, This is fucking dumb.
AveragePotato,
FeatherConstrictor, This is fuck you thumb
dualipa_fan69, meirl
Moxvallix, 👍🏻
ClarkDoom, The people that use it this way ruin it for everyone else.
SapienSRC, I use it as an acknowledgement at work, and to be a sarcastic asshole with my friends. Context is key.
Zapp, If you were on the Internet before emojis took off, the single letter “k” had the same energy.
marmo7ade, 👍
AveragePotato, I know. One of the reason why my entire friend circle finds it offensive.

Zapp, Lest we forget the true conversation stopper…
ic
ryven, Wait it did? I used it all the time, because it was shorter than “ok”.
karika, k
Aagje_D_Vogel, 👍
emokidforever, I’ve always thought it had the same energy in that they both simply acknowledge having seen the message. What’s wrong with that?
Chev, 🖕
Kalkaline, 👍🙂👍
emokidforever, When I use it, I mean ok, because that’s what it actually means. It’s simply a way to acknowledge someone was heard. I will not be changing bc others read more into it. Tis way too exhausting to consider every hidden meaning someone might have.
TheOneAndOnly, Right? I’ve been using it to mean, “acknowledged”, for years now. My kids told me just the other day that their group does not, and that they have to remind themselves I’m not being sarcastic when I send it. I have reached “that” age, it would appear.
marmo7ade, I have reached “that” age, it would appear.
Me too. Glad to be here. Why the fuck does anyone care that children apply nonsensical meaning to emojis? People actually waste time thinking about this? If a teenager told me there was something wrong with using the thumbs up emoji I would laugh at them, give a sarcastic OK, and move along.
TheOneAndOnly, Right? My reaction was to give them a thumbs up and move along. They laughed.
ThePantser, 👌
marmo7ade, 👍
BROMETHIUS, Boss said I can’t work from home anymore. I simply replied 👍
variants, what other meaning could it have?
warbond, The only way I see it as being negative is to look at it like the “yeah, okay” Jennifer Lawrence meme.

samus12345, “Whatever.” Just depends on the context.
MyNameIsIgglePiggle, Ok and fuck you
marmo7ade, It means OK or acknowledged. It does not mean “fuck you”. People who think it means “fuck you” are the only people having a bad time with this.
MyNameIsIgglePiggle, I reckon context is important here. If someone is chewing you out and you give a thumbs up it could be passive aggressive. But yeah in a business context I use it pretty frequently to acknowledge the message without needing to add to the conversation.
variants, lol when I read your comment in my inbox I had to stop and think what could I have said for this response
MyNameIsIgglePiggle, Haha yeah that would have been a crazy one with no context
A_Chilean_Cyborg, Idk I hate when people get non obvious.
30isthenew29, It is apparent in the right context.
Dirk, 👍
GladiusB, I don’t care all that much. Sometimes a thumbs up is the way to acknowledge you heard them.
30isthenew29, Sometimes people see things the way they want to see them. Not your fault.
