Day 3 of attempting to daily drive postmarketOS Linux on a OnePlus 6T:

I had my first crash! I wanted to unlock the phone while waiting for some coffee to finish brewing, and after a few seconds of black screen I got this.

After a hard reset it booted up fine again.

@fell Nice! I'm thinking about going PinePhone and ditching android once and for all.
Already testing VoIP solutions, and considering mobile hotspot over a cell plan. 5 gig mobile hotspots run $20/m (I'd love that to be my cell bill). I'm just over custom flashing images and androids notification system, it is driving me wild.

Runny postmarketOS have you found any really hard edges that makes daily driving hard?

@noflcl So far it has been very usable. The only thing I've found is that there is no turn-by-turn navigation yet. You can browse the map and get directions, but if you're driving then there is no app that can help you navigate.

@fell Yes, maps have been one area I've been inspecting. Found a great YouTube video with a guys exploring all postmarketOS map options.

I do live in a large unfamiliar city... Sounds hilarious since I literally gave my father the gears over the holiday seasons for traveling with a Garmin GPS even though he has an iPhone 14 pro 😅. . But maybe an old school GPS unit for the car would be my solution.

@noflcl I would be interested in seeing that video.
