How do you manage/keep your keyboard items?

Hello! I’m new in the mechanical keyboard universe. I’ve bought some switches for my (very first) mechanical keyboard, and I have some keycap pullers. I also plan to buy a pencil to easily clean my keyboard.

For storing such tools and items, I plan to buy some ziploc bags and segregate the switches, pencil and keycap pullers, and store them all inside a plastic container.

I’m wondering… How do you guys keep all these mechanical keyboard-related items? I’ll be happy to read new ideas.

My office has a "workshop" side with three cube-farm desktops salvaged from an office park refurb. Under those, I have 4 cheap drawer units and one matching shelf unit. For now, the boards themselves are on the shelves, and keyboard stuff occupies three drawers. Keycaps stay in their boxes, extras are married into the "nicer" boxes, and it's all labeled on masking tape. Switches go into old coffee jars that hold 50 switches very easily, also labeled. Empty Keyboard boxes get stashed in one of the less accessible drawers. Keyboards share space with 3D printing, soldering/electronics, office supplies, and my "inside" tools.

sillyhatsonly,

Keycaps that came in boxes are labeled and stored on a shelf. Loose caps and switches in bags are sorted into 6.2qt. storage bins with colored lids and I have a note in my notes app with a master list of profiles (eg “Teal lid - DSS Shale, DCS Input” “Yellow lid - Gateron Pink Linear, Tecsee Carrot Linear” etc) because I was having trouble keeping track of everything.

I don't go as hard as other members of the community, I just want to have the parts in case of an issue. I have my key caps, switches, and tools all in the same Ziploc bag (not loose though, each are separate just consolidated).

I keep the bag with my PC parts box

T156,

I just keep them in the box the keyboard came in. It’s already got places for all of those, and not using it seems wasteful.

It also saves having to buy a container, but I also don’t have a lot of replacement switches that might need a box or bag to put them in.

I have a room in my flat dedicated to all my shit. I throw shit in there and it disappears for years. Occasionally I rediscover things I forgot I had.

I think there’s some switches in that room. Maybe 3 switch removal tools. I found a keyboard I forgot I had.
