Dipladenias love the warm, wet weather we have been having in . This is a plant that should be pruned in mid-summer. It grows very easily from cuttings if they are planted in summer.

I have grown many cuttings of dipladenias over the years. If you keep them pruned they look like a small bushy plant (see photo above), but they are natural climbers. I have several of them growing along a fence and up the bamboo growing along there. I just keep them fertilised and make sure they have enough water. They need to be watered regularly during summer.

I bought them when we lived in Sydney. I brought them down to when we moved back here in 2020. I was a bit doubtful about how well they would grow here as they don't like frost, but Melbourne's climate has got warmer so it is not a problem.
