Not sure how I feel about these things, they are kind of just a show piece. Most engineered wood products use a melamine formaldehyde resin as a binder. Melamine can off gas VOCs.

It is definitely cool but I find these kinds of products to always feel a little like green washing.

TIL wooden bicycle frames

I thought for a second this was a mass revival of wooden bicycle rims. But now that I’m thinking about it, the advances in laminate wood products might make it feasible to bring back the concept. The bicycle rim’s application as part of the wheel’s tensile structure is highly amenable to the strong, lightweight yet compliant properties of wood, for the same reasons they were used in bicycle wheels from the late 19th Century.
