After a change in leadership and another massive reorganization, we’ve brought you another INCREDIBLY MASSIVE update full of new features and improvements to Mlem that we just know you’re going to love! Hooray!

NEW ADDITIONS

  • Swipe-to-vote
  • Community list and search View between accounts page and Feed Tab
  • Added communities list to the feed tab to browse your favorites and subscribed communities
  • Post/comment saving
  • Colored thread indicators
  • Updated NSFW tag/blur
  • Revamped usernames to show OP, Moderators, bots, etc.
  • Community image headers
  • Beautiful, new Community sidebars
  • Much-improved functionality with iOS’s Accessibility tools Guided Access, VoiceOver, and Screen Reader

BUG FIXES

  • LemmyAPI 0.18.0 compatibility

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Comment reply button is temporarily missing. Swipe left to reply for now, and we’ll get the button back in the next build!
  • Community List/Search view may not show remote instances until widespread adoption of LemmyAPI v0.18.0 which just released. Be patient!
  • Swipe voting on posts have a slight delay to feedback due to server delay
  • Feed sort setting may not persist after updates

MORE TO COME

  • Full a11y compliance which should work perfectly with iOS’s Accessibility functionality like Guided Access and Screen Reader coming. Each build comes with increased functionality!
  • New Profile Tab
  • Messages Tab
  • New & improved fullscreen image viewer
  • Inbox notifications
  • Custom app icons

Again, please keep in mind that this is an early beta. As such, it’s not feature-complete and there will be bugs and unexpected behavior. Enjoy testing, and we look forward to hearing your bug reports via TestFlight and your feedback! You can comment here or come chat with us in The Mlem Space on Matrix.

We’d like to dedicate this release to David, for creating the foundation without which we could have built nothing.

And to Christian Selig, for being the trailblazer and guiding light to every iOS developer, granting every one of us the vision to build great things our users will love and remember forever.

Enjoy!

The Mlem Team

EDIT: ok, there’s some confusion with users of the old beta-- DELETE IT! It no longer works, and we had to distribute a new beta. After you delete the old beta, you can sign up for the new TestFlight beta by tapping/clicking the link above! The group is limited in capacity, so get it quickly!

FollowingOfStalkers,

I still have the app on my phone but I don’t see Mlem listed in TestFlight anymore. Were testers removed?

Delete the old app and sign up for the NEW beta via the link at the top of the post! After the original app author left, we had to switch to a new account, but all new betas will come from the new account!

FollowingOfStalkers,

Ah I see. The old app wasn’t showing the text body of the post. Fetched the link from browser, thanks!

chase,

The original dev left the project and ended that TestFlight. This is the new one.

Tyr3al,

Awesome job. Feels already great!

acow,

Wow, this release is slick! I think the only real issue I run into is link handling, and I understand that is coming. Great job!

geon,

Hey, this new version looks awesome! Y’all are doing great. I just noticed one issue; when I first opened up the app and saw the list of communities I’m subscribed to, it didn’t nearly show all of them. Maybe only 12 of them appear… is this a known bug?

geon,

Reread the post, I think it addresses the issue. Sorry for my blindness. :')

delollipop,

Did mlem change the tesflight link? I now have 2 mlem app on my phone?

aaron,

Awesome update, loving Mlem even more! Thanks team!

japps13,

Have you changed the system requirements. I am running iOS 15.7.7 which is the latest supported on my device and TestFlight says the app requires an update. Though it is unclear what requires updating.

Perhaps it is just a switch in XCode that was configured differently than before?

Mlem requires iOS 16+

I see that the community list may not show remote instances - but mine only seems to show remote instances. All my subscribed communities are only showing ones outside of Lemmy.ml

lol, no kidding! I don’t know what to say!

@BrooklynMan @mlemapp where do I get an invitation code from?

EK13,

I also couldn’t see it on the version of Mlem I was using so here it is in case you’re having the same problem: https://testflight.apple.com/join/MelFP11Y

that big link at the top of the post, silly!

@BrooklynMan I‘m not blind buddy. I simply wasn’t aware that test flight needs invitations. Thought the link is enough.

what does the setting for ‘vote complex style’ do?

I can’t tell by switching between the options

@lackthought@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

oh wait I think I got it now

the vote score number gets included in the colored highlight area with standard

BigPapaE,

The new voting experience and comment collapse are insanely enjoyable

Jim_Greece,

Love this update! Keep up the good work!

Athena,

Managed to get in on the Beta - the app is looking fantastic and has pulled me across from Kbin. Keep up the good work!

hanni,

Looks great, guys. Well done!

Kuroneko,

This app is coming along very nicely and really reminds me of Apollo. Excellent job! -Posted from Mlem
