The new Analog Africa reissue comp is a top tier one. Excellent sound quality, fresh style, deep grooves, great horn arrangements. Great addition to one of the best catalogs there is.
@mrcompletely this has been one of many tabs open all day but I just started it and was taken aback right away - the sax solo that starts at 4:45 in the first track, for the first 10ish seconds, is totally the beginning of the sax solo from Pick Up the Pieces by Average White Band
@wharf_rat doesn't surprise me. There was a lot of back and forth between African, American and Latin music, and and little quotes from American rock and soul tunes def pop up in this kind of music
