I’m creating a wagon inventory sheet for my players, who are using slot-based inventory tracking. They want to modify the wagon to have solid walls and a roof, like a vardo. How many slots should I reduce the carrying capacity by? I think the 3d6DTL crew did something similar in their Dolmenwood campaign. Any suggestions on...
I’m currently running an OSE Advanced campaign with some friends. Any suggestions on activities in the village that the party has established as a home base for a fall festival? I’m thinking of a log rolling (dex), ale drinking (con), etc., but I would love some creative things to add to the mix and make it more fun. Zany is...
I don’t see many Sci-Fi battlemaps being posted so I thought I would help out a little bit. I have been running 2 sci-fi rpgs concurrently for 3 years and have amassed quite a few decent maps that I have made in DungeonDraft. They are nothing special, but considering how rare sci-fi maps can be, I hope someone finds them...
so the other day we had our sesh and someone brought assorted cheeses as a snack, and puns ensued. I (the dm) jokingly said that for every new cheese pun the whole party heals 1 hp cuz I’m fun like that. Mind you this is a 5e game so a single hp isn’t much but its still incentivizing when most of the party is at half health....
Trying to make a West marches campaign and trying to figure out what I should do for a starting town. Im currently reading through keep on the borderlands but that feels like a lot to keep track of, it’s really good so far tho. What should a town in a West marches campaign even have in it?
Had a cool idea for a mountain with hermits on it that get struck by lightning in order to cast it as a spell but I’m not sure how to build a setting around that idea.

From controversial publishers and exiled pundits to belligerent posts in facebook groups somtimes it seems to be impossible to swing a cat in the Old School scene without running into agressive and exclusionary rhetoric. As fan of all the wonderful aspects of OSR style games I am concerned with what I see as a worm in our...
I’m looking for an old blog post that had a great visual chart on action types and their potential consequences. Anybody recall anything that might fit the bill? If so, drop me a link!
I thought it might be nice to set up a thread in which we can recommend game systems to one another. What do you like? Why? Give us a quick blurb about a game you like and why you think others might like it. Maybe call out if you think it would be good for absolute beginners or folks new to the OSR/NSR. Oh and the genre too. If...
Hey gang, I saw that we’ve got over 175 folks subscribed to the community (small steps for mankind but giant steps for us) and we’re now the third largest community on Lemm.ee!...
So I have been inspired by this blog on bringing Lord Dunsany's Dreamlands into a game https://icastlight.blogspot.com/2023/04/od-opium-dunsany-dreamlands-part-ii.html...
I've never actually run any of the old modules like Keep on the Borderlands or anything like that. I'm much more used to homebrewing a setting entirely or at most grabbing a few elements from a published adventure (I took a bunch from Willow, for example). I think this is why most of my favorite systems tend to be more in the...
Hello there! I've been OSR-curious for a few years now. I like sandbox games where the dice decide reactions, weather, random encounters, etc because that keeps things interesting even for the GM. Incidentally, it also works great for solo play which I like....
