Good! Let them waste their lives being angry and victims. More misery for them. It's not like his base would ever vote for anyone else, so why even be concerned with them? By being fanatics, they've lost any say in politics. It's the opinion of the rest of the voting population that matters now.

I do think it's well past time that we discussed whether or not it makes sense for people whose position is "we should destroy democracy and instead install an autocratic ruler" should actually be allowed to be involved democratically. I think tolerance of people willing to vote democracy out of existence is a real problem, and at some point it should actually be addressed. Democracy was never intended to be the tool of its own demise.
Democracy should certainly be able to destroy itself (otherwise how might we replace it with some hypothetical better option?). Democracy is simply the least worst thing we have found so far. Think of it as an underlying incentive for every society to prioritize equal access to education, public discourse and debate, political representation, safe spaces, etc, etc, etc... hopefully the last 6 years have reminded every sane minded person that it matters that they SHOW UP, because the comparatively smaller number of crazies sure do.
I don't really disagree. I would hope it's more of an evolution to the next step beyond simple democracy to where more agency and equity is given to many more marginalized people a voice and choice in their governance. We're definitely near a technological level where we could consider direct democracy as opposed to representative, but I'd still hope that enough people are "sane minded" to not wholesale reject the idea of democracy and choice, despite its obvious limitations.
agreed. my "better" world is somewhat Jeffersonian - egalitarian, with universal agency. that world absolutely still involves anyone (even the crazies) having a voice but without all of the outsized special interest influence we see every day - I suppose I still have some faith in the majority of humanity. I want a vibrant, progressive society tempered by knowledge, understanding and compassion. part of the reason we are where we are currently is the lack of everything mentioned above. I know others may find massive holes in my pie-in-the-sky utopia, but this is what i would foolishly advocate for until swayed in a different direction.
