gullible, I’ve noticed that American internal politics have been rife with good news lately. Plenty of objectionable horrifying stupidity but more good than bad.
Telorand, Sometimes, even villains have to take a breath.
Riven, (edited ) Plenty of bad stuff going on still like our voting rights getting stripped by bullshit stacked courts decisions and that 2025 plan to take over the government. Wouldn’t put it past them for this to be part of the plan tbh.
UnrepententProcrastinator, I feel like our standards for American politics have been Overton windowed to the very bottom of what should be minimal.
gullible, They absolutely have been and I often wonder whether it’s deliberate.

ptz, (edited ) That is a rare piece of good news coming out of Texas, so hurrah! Also, is that gavel comically oversized or is their house speaker really tiny?
YoBuckStopsHere, Texas must be adjusting for something else being so small.
droopy4096, gigantomania is a thing in Austin, so, yeah, oversized gavel comes with the territory
Telorand, Why not both? And you can’t tell from the picture, but it also makes a squeak when it lands.
ptz, I was thinking they adjourned the session by smashing a watermelon.
TrenchcoatFullofBats, You joke, but Gallagher could easily have been elected in Texas
casmael, Idk about tiny but he’s definitely sloshed youtu.be/1U8OAIRFP7Q?si=_ZChuV_xibdH0WdR
ptz, …wow.
billwashere, Sloshed?!? The man is damn near pickled. I’d be worried he’s approaching alcohol poisoning.
nilloc, It seems unlikely he’s remember any of that session that’s for sure.
nonfuinoncuro, or having a stroke, sounds like aphasia
BrianTheeBiscuiteer, That’s what passes for good news here – the txlege didn’t fuck us.
